I do have a valid answer to the question of why you wouldn't want to put this in your house or near where you will be enjoying outside space, as so many have asked, but let me start at the beginning.
Now, I've only had this one night, but I had to write this review. I will come back and add to it down the road, but I had to share. I bought the model for a 1 acre space. I live in a forest and the mosquitoes are intense all day and into the evening this time of year. I had a different kind of bug zapper about 5 years ago and it really did nothing at all. I was skeptical, but the excellent reviews persuaded me and I'm so glad I listened!
I plugged it in at about noon and because I read the reviews, I knew not to expect much until dusk. Sure enough, as other reviewers stated, there was a zap here and there in the daytime but not much else. The mosquitoes were out and about since we have mixed shade and sun, and I even got a few bites while putting up the the bracket to hold it. But they just weren't attracted to it in the daytime, so I hoped that nightfall would bring a different story.
Sure enough, at dusk the light went absolutely crazy with zapping those little vampires, and this went on for a good hour or more before it slowed down and eventually stopped as it became fully dark. I looked at the remains, and it was all just a big pile of mosquitoes, no moths or beneficial critters that I could see, just mosquito parts everywhere.
To answer the question that many have asked, I think there is a very valid reason WHY they say you don't really want to put it in your house or near where you want to be. The burning bug smell is really, really bad, and even came in through our windows though we are quite some distance from it. If you ever had a bug get stuck in those halogen torchiere lamps, you will know what I mean but multiply the intensity of that by the thousands of mosquitoes zapped, and you will want to be prepared. Tonight, I will close my windows. Totally worth it, but I would close your windows at dusk and don't plan your family barbecue under the light. Especially one this size, the 1 acre size is a pretty big unit. It is also very bright, so you might not want it near a bedroom window. You also might want to be considerate of where you put it for your neighbors comfort between the smell and the brightness. I didn't have it on at dawn, because I want to put it in a better place away from bedroom windows, but I'm sure it would have done the same thing then.
It killed an amazing amount of bugs in a short time, and it was like a mosquito barbecue out there. Not a good thing to get a whiff of, but completely worth it for the job it does!
This is great, and it works just like it says. I used the attractant as well. If anything changes, I will add more to this soon.

This thing is pretty much indestructable
Purchased this like 3 or 4 years ago. Don't usually write reviews, but I've been through several bug zappers in the past that have failed in various ways. This one has been through countless freezes, hail storms, thunderstorms, 110+ degree heatwaves, and high winds under this tree in my front yard.. & most of the time I forget to unplug it.Have purchased around 3 total replacement bulbs but the fixture itself has stood the test of Texas weather.It still works like day 1, and even the paint is still good.To clean it I litterally just bang the side of it with the bottom of my fist a few times and 99% of the bugs just fall off.Idk how to rate the noise level, I mean a bug zapper is gonna zap some bugs. Pretty sure they all make a zapping sound.The one and only thing that I do not like is the tiny power cable. It's hard to make the power connection look neat with it being so short. Still a 5 star product for the price.

Have purchased around 3 total replacement bulbs but the fixture itself has stood the test of Texas weather.
It still works like day 1, and even the paint is still good.
To clean it I litterally just bang the side of it with the bottom of my fist a few times and 99% of the bugs just fall off.
Idk how to rate the noise level, I mean a bug zapper is gonna zap some bugs. Pretty sure they all make a zapping sound.
The one and only thing that I do not like is the tiny power cable. It's hard to make the power connection look neat with it being so short. Still a 5 star product for the price.

Using indoors, and it does kill small gnats!
I thought it would be silent, but it is not, it makes a low buzz or humming sound. Not a big deal, but it's not absolutely silent.
Even though you wouldn't think we would get mosquitoes in the dry Las Vegas desert, we have them in the summer, and I'm looking forward to frying them this summer.
Works great, I'd recommend to anyone.
